We recently invited Amintro users to use the same SMART planning principles when it came to planning for travel in their future whether that’s now, in six months or a full year down the road. We encouraged our Amintro “EngAgers” to apply the SMART acronym for creating Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely goals or plans for their next “bucket list” vacation. Maybe you can help them get there!
- S = Specific. We asked them to think about where they want to go and how to get there? You wouldn’t just say it’s time to go to Italy or to trek through the Himalayas and then leave the next day. You have to be specific:
- Where do you want to go? – Do you offer cheap airfares? Senior discounts or special travel packages?
- How will you get there? – Are you an airline, a rental car company or provide cruise packages? Tap into our market.
- Where will you stay? – How about combined “Stay and Play” plans that include group tours?
- M = Measurable. Your outcomes might be business related but our boomer audience is thinking more specifically when it comes to measurements. As examples:
- Calculating how much money they’ll need to reach a destination.
- Converting cash into local currencies and should it be done before they leave? Do you offer cash conversion services at favourable rates? Are you a bank? Maybe you offer a product that helps people save for special occasions – like travel!
- If folks are driving to a destination and may not get the whole trip done in one or two days, consider travel deals: if you are a popular discount motel chain, consider offering “Stay for 4 days, pay for 3” or “Plan your trip with a guaranteed room stay with us each night along the way,” or other similar deals.
- For the flying consumer offer ground transportation as part of a package to and from the airport, or work with a dedicated cab service so customers feel comfortable navigating around their destination.
- A = Achievable or Attainable. Similar words, whichever one you choose to use, we know that some EngAgers will need to “work up” to a big holiday. Do you help mature adults to stay fit? Offer physiotherapy services? Health and nutrition coaching? The Amintro audience are active and ready for adventure but might need a little extra help along the way. If you offer a product or service that can help them achieve their dreams – you need to advertise it here!
- R = Realistic. We encouraged our audience to be realistic which means having to deal with the “boring” stuff like what if they have an accident, injury or illness?
- Do you provide medical insurance coverage?
- Trip cancellation or lost luggage insurance?
- T = Timely.
